Frequently Asked Questions

Pickleball is played on a 44 x 20′ court over a net stretched at 36 inches in height, resembling a small tennis court or a large ping-pong table. The equipment required for pickleball is minimal, which adds to its appeal. All you need is a pickleball paddle, which resembles a solid racket, and a pickleball, which is a plastic ball with holes. This simplicity makes it easy for beginners to get started without a significant investment in gear.

Pickleball is played much like tennis or ping pong, with each side returning the ball over the net with a single hit and landing within the court boundaries.  The serve and 2nd shot (return of serve) must be allowed to bounce before being struck.

A key difference from tennis is the area on the court commonly called “the kitchen” – the area 7 feet on each side of the net.  Players can only enter the kitchen to play a ball that has already bounced.  Any other violation of the kitchen results in the point being lost.

You absolutely can walk in and play without a membership! You will have to register in our system (to satisfy the lawyers) but you can play with no membership arrangement. The memberships enable you to play more cost effectively depending on how often you want to play.

Absolutely!  We love bringing new players into the game.  We can run a short basic instructional video for you and a staff member will help you get started on your court.

That all depends on how much you plan to play.

  • Our walk-in rates work best if you’re only going to play up to once a week.
  • You will want a monthly membership if you plan to play 2-3 times a week.
  • Our Unlimited Play membership allows serious players to play as much as you’d like.

The Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) is recognized as the most accurate and globally standardized rating system in the sport of pickleball. It offers a unique approach to assessing player skill levels, providing a fair and consistent measure across the sport’s growing community.

The DUPR scale starts at 2.0, typically representing a beginner player, and goes up to 8.0, indicative of professional-level skills. Players’ ratings fluctuate based on match results, with the system taking into account the skill level of opponents to adjust ratings more accurately. This ensures that players are always matched fairly, encouraging competitive and balanced play.
